If I'm being totally honest, I love just about everything from Nutiva. They provide you with high quality products from a company that is in this business for the right reasons. However, since I have to choose just one product, the product that I really feel stands out from the rest is their coconut manna.
Coconut manna and coconut butter are basically the same thing, which is whole coconut puree and everything from Nutiva is organic. Coconut manna has a rich, delicious taste that is unlike anything else I've ever had. I will sometimes put it in smoothies but what I really like to use it for is as a primary ingredient in many desserts. Because it is so flavorful and rich, you can get away with not using too much or any sweeteners in your desserts, which makes it even healthier.
Nutiva is a company that is ran on principals and values, which is not that common anymore. They are an independent company that is not only certified organic, certified gluten free and non gmo verified, but they are also certified fair trade and B Corp. certified. When a company is certified fair trade, it means that they only get their product from workers who are payed fair wages, they work in good conditions and that smallholder farms recieve their fair share of profits. When a company is B Corp. certified it means that they meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. What this all means is that Nutiva is not only providing you with a high quality product, their are making sure that they are doing it in a way that pays everybody involved fair wages and they are trying to do it in a way that affects the environment as little as possible.
The founder and CEO of Nutiva is a gentleman by the name of John Roulac. John himself is a keynote speaker on sustainability, trends in the organic food industry, purpose-driven companies and the impact of genetically engineered food. He has founded four nonprofit groups including GMO Inside and the Nutiva Nourish Foundation, which donates 1% of Nutiva’s sales to support sustainable agriculture and other environmental programs. He also activally speaks out against GMO's and what they are doing to our environment.
Long story short, I vote with my dollars. I want to support the business' that are most ethically sound, do what's right and provide people with a high quality, healthy product and Nutiva does just that. I personally only buy coconut oil, red palm oil and coconut manna from them because I want to support a company that is truly looking out for it's customers and for the greater good.
